These specialists will breathe new life into your floor and wall tiles. Whilst regular mopping of your tiles keeps them visually clean nothing compares to a professional tile cleaning and grout cleaning service from South QLD Restoration.  What we offer for tile cleaning services

What we offer for tile and grout repair services

Often a DIY repair can make the damage stand out more than it did before the repair attempt. We have many years of experience and in the end, we can save you time and money. Why not let us have a look before you start?

What man-made tiles we work with

Man-made tiles are the most popular tile used which is mainly determined due to price and budget. During the manufacturing process they can be either polished or left with a matte finish. However, you need to be aware that tile designs will always change over the years and that means it could be harder to find replacements for your man-made tiles that were laid a few years ago.

  • Ceramic
  • Porcelain
  • Mosaic
  • Glass

What natural stone tiles we work with

Stone tiles look great on any floor or wall but some stone can scratch easily and must be sealed regularly to help protect them from excessive damage. However, dark granite is very hard and is only required to be sealed rarely. It is good to keep in mind that a mild soap solution should be used for cleaning stone as harsh household cleaners can cause damage.

  • Marble
  • Dark Granite
  • Bluestone
  • Sandstone
  • Travertine
  • Limestone

Here we answer some questions you may have.

As with any contractor service clients will always have questions. Here are some of the more common ones we get but if you have a question we have not addressed, we welcome your call on 1300762021

  • How much does tile cleaning cost?  Pricing starts at $5 per square metre but can vary based on a number of factors. For no charge you can give us a call and we will come out, inspect the tiles, understand what your requirements are  and give you a free written quote which we will leave with you for your consideration.
  • How long does tile cleaning take?  Tile cleans generally take between 2 and 4 hours but this is depending on how many square metres that need cleaning and also if there are any other services you have requested. Once we know your requirements we will be able to give you a definite timeframe.
  • How long does it take tiles to dry?  If it is just a tile clean our process is designed so that regardless of tiles are left dry. This is as result of the extraction process at the end of the clean so you will be able to walk on them instantly. If you have opted for a clean and seal it would be 1-4 hours depending on seal used and 24hrs to be fully cured. We will advise clearly at the end of the jobs.
  • What is grout sealing?  Grout sealing a requirement to protect your grout from liquid damages. Grout is porous and if liquids are spilt they are absorbed quickly. Wiping or washing the liquid away will still leave some staining in those pores. Regular floor washing can also cause stains so it is important to use the correct cleaning agent. There are two types of sealers topical and penetrating. We use penetrating for best results.
  • How does the tile cleaning process work?  To prepare the floor for cleaning, we will remove all items on the floor, and follow up with a high volume vacuum. A cleaning detergent that is determined by the condition and composite of your tiles is applied and left to soak while we manually scrub any suspect areas in the tile and grout together with any tight areas too small for our machines. We follow up with our commercial tile cleaner and rinse process. All water is extracted during this process
  • Will the cleaning process cause damage to my baseboards?  Absolutely not. Our cleaning system will not harm any sub-floors or wall skirting boards. Whilst we use water, we also extract it during the cleaning process so it is not left to sit on your floors for any period of time. In fact, the regular washing of your floor that you do has more likelihood of causing damage because without specialised equipment it is hard to completely remove all water from corners and tight places. Our extraction system removes it all and leaves your tile floors completely dry.

 Concrete floor sealing

Decorative or polished concrete floors in the home can look stunning, but in order to improve their appearance and durability, we recommend a sealant be applied. As well as providing a protective layer, a sealant also enhances the appearance of your floor and improves its durability. Think of it like applying Scotch Guard to your expensive new carpet or waxing your new car. Protection against stains is the main reason for applying a sealant to indoor concrete, especially if the floor is in an area of your home or business where food and drinks will be consumed.

Family pets can also cause a problem. If a concrete floor hasn’t been properly sealed, then there’s also a chance that pets could damage it with their claws. New concrete floors should be sealed as soon as they’ve been installed and where possible, you need to ask your contractor wko laid the floor if it has been sealed and with what sort of sealant. For following applications should be carried out depending on wear and tear, but rule of thumb is to re-seal existing concrete floors 1 to 2 years.

 Choose your sealant

Sealing concrete sets the original colour and gives it a gorgeous sheen. Depending on whether you want a matte finish or a high gloss, we can utilise a concrete sealant to match your needs. Furthermore, if your concrete floor is in a moist area such as a bathroom or kitchen, we usually recommend a sealant with a non-slip additive too.

If you’ve invested in a concrete floor then it pays to protect your investment with concrete sealing. You’ll be so glad that you did. Why not call South Queensland Restorations on 1300762021 to see just how we can help you?

Why a professional tile cleaning and grout cleaning is necessary

Tiles get some hard treatment and no more so than floor tiles. Keeping your tiles clean not only enhances your home, it maintains a high level of hygiene for all the family. For your regular cleaning you will find a range of cleaning products on the shelves at your supermarket, but as much as these products promise ‘professional’ results with an ‘amazing’ shine and ‘improved’ bacterial defences, they simply cannot deliver a South QLD Restoration professional clean with commercial products and equipment backed up with expertise. Don’t waste your time and money, come straight to the experts! You’ll also have peace of mind knowing the products we use are completely safe for your family and your pets.

Our services in detail:

Tile and Grout Cleaning

Even with the most dedicated care, your tiled floors and surfaces will eventually lose their lustrous shine. Mopping and scrubbing can be a time consuming and dirty job and is unlikely to give you the result you were hoping for. Because grout is a porous material it tends to absorb dirt and debris that comes into contact with it; and while mopping will remove surface soil, it leaves behind the embedded dirt that has caused the grout to become dull.

Specialist cleaning products and equipment

Our tile and grout cleaning Brisbane service utilises heavy-duty cleaning products and specialised industrial equipment. Expertly formulated cleaning liquids are applied to your tiles using our high-pressure truck mounted cleaning equipment, extracting and removing the dirt from the grout, leaving your tiles sparkly clean – and looking just like new. We’re sure you’ll be delighted with your gleaming, fresh, clean tiles.

Tile Sealing – Protect Your Investment

So your tiles are down on the floor or on the walls – well done, great job. However, you’re not quite done yet. If you want your finished job to look clean and professional, you’ll need to consider tile sealing. This isn’t necessary for all tiles, but porous ones such as unglazed ceramic tiles and those made of natural stone will definitely require sealing.

Are my tiles porous?

Are you wondering how to identify porous tiles? Easy…. try pressing down on a tile with a wet cloth for a few seconds. If a dark mark is left behind, then it is porous and will need sealing. A tile sealant helps prevent and reduce staining by stopping any spills from penetrating beneath the tile surface. It puts up a barrier to protect your tiles from contamination, chemical damage, and deterioration making it easier to care for your investment.

While sealing your tiles will help prevent damage from staining, accidents do happen. If you notice a stain on one of your tiles then don’t panic. In most cases it can be rubbed off with a mild bleach solution but never scrub at it with a stiff brush, or you could damage the tile’s surface.

Tile Stripping – Restores Your Floors

There’s no denying that a tiled floor that has been correctly finished and maintained regularly will last several years longer than one that hasn’t. However, it has to be expected that over time your tiled floors will succumb to scratches and pitting, discolouration, and general deterioration, especially in areas with a large volume of traffic, such as lobbies. At some point, it’s inevitable that the only solution is tile stripping.

Restores your floor to its original condition
This is a process whereby the whole or part of your floor is cleaned by removing all traces of sealant or wax, as well as grease, dirt, and grime that’s accumulated in unclean areas. Depending on the amount of floor that needs stripping, this process can take longer than other types of floor cleaning, but rest assured our experienced technicians will carry out the job quickly and efficiently, with as little interruption to your business or home as possible. We can strip, clean, and re-seal the surface of all types of hard flooring as well as wall tiles.

Leave it to the professionals

Because the method of floor stripping varies according to the type of flooring that you have, it’s a job that’s best left to the professionals. The method and materials vary from one surface to another, and if you try to do it yourself and use the wrong materials, you could end up damaging or ruining your floor. It can also turn into a messy experience if you’re unsure how the materials used will react with other substances or different water temperatures.

We’ll strip anywhere!
Whether it’s indoors or outside, our friendly, experienced technicians can assist with tile stripping, cleaning, and re-sealing your tiles. Be it:

  • Kitchens
  • Bathrooms
  • Showers
  • Difficult to reach indoor areas
  • Tiles around your pool
  • Or in your backyard

we’ve got you covered. If you’d like to learn more about why tile/floor stripping should be carried out by professionals, such as ourselves, then why not give us a call on 1300 762 021.

Tile Re-grouting – Putting Back The Wow!

It’s easy to look at a tiled area and think it looks unsightly because of the tiles themselves, but often on closer inspection, you’ll notice that actually the tiles are in pretty good condition and the only thing making them look ugly is the discoloured grout. Why put yourself through the hassle and expense of replacing your tiles when we can put the wow back with our tile regrouting Brisbane service?

So how does regrouting work? Well, like any task, the secret lies in the preparation. One of our experienced technicians will use a specialised tool to dig out the grout to a depth of around 3-4 mm. That done, he’ll thoroughly vacuum and clean the area before putting in new grout containing an anti-mould additive. You’ll be astonished at how clean, bright, and fresh, showers, bathrooms, kitchen splash-backs, floors, patios, and hearths look after your tiles have been regrouted.

Benefits of tile regrouting

Quick, convenient, and less expensive than replacing tiles, regrouting has other benefits too, including

  • Aids the environment since we’re not filling up landfills with discarded tiles,
  • Adds value to your property if you’re considering selling, and…
  • If you’re a landlord, a well-presented property could justify a higher rent and your property is likely to lease quicker.

Grout Colour Sealing – Rejuvenate Your Tiles

It’s hardly surprising that porcelain and ceramic tiles in pale shades such as off-white or ivory creams are popular in homes and commercial buildings. Not only do they make a room appear more spacious and airy but they complement all styles of furnishing. There’s no disputing they look stunning with crisp, clean, sharp grouting but due to everyday living, it doesn’t take long for the grout lines to discolour. So what’s the solution? In just 3 words ….. grout colour sealing.

What does grout colour sealing do?

The sealer itself provides the highest level of stain protection and greatly reduces the effort needed to maintain new grout. An absolute must for new tile installs, the sealer is applied to give a consistent finish and to prevent future staining. It’s also supplied with a warranty against fading, chipping, peeling, or cracking – for added peace of mind.

Freshens old, tired looking tiles too

Grout colour sealing isn’t limited just to new tiles. You’ll also be pleased to know that this service can be used to restore and refurbish existing tiles that are looking a little worse for wear. The tiles and grout will be given a thorough clean before the grout colour sealant is applied. We’ll do our best to match your existing grout colour or, for a dramatic new look, why not consider a bold new colour from our range. It’s a perfect solution if you’re redecorating and breathes new life into plain or patterned tiles.

Tile Repair/Replacement – We'll Fix It

Isn’t it annoying when cracked, chipped, discoloured, or loose tiles on your walls, floors, stairs or around your swimming pool threaten to ruin their appearance? It’s enough to make you weep! Did you happen to keep hold of any spare tiles left over from your installations? Don’t worry, whether you did or not, our experienced tilers can help to repair or replace indoor or outdoor tiles with the minimum of hassle to put a smile back on your face. Why not give us a call to see what they can do for you?

Efflorescence Treatment

Efflorescence occurs when salty deposits crystallise and form on tile grout and/or surfaces. In most cases it starts off at the edge of tiles and, if left untreated for too long, will spread to the tile surfaces where it can cause permanent damage to both tiles and grout.

What’s the cause?

Efflorescence is caused by multiple factors combining forces and is often affected by the climate or location. For example, efflorescence is likely to be more prevalent in the winter, when it’s damp and cold, or if you reside in a coastal area. Grout that is damaged or cracked can also contribute to the growth of efflorescence, as when water gets beneath a crack and tries to get out again, it causes the formation of these salty deposits. If it’s spotted in its early stages, it can be easily removed but if left untreated, removal becomes more complex – and now really isn’t the time to practice your DIY skills! You need the help of professional efflorescence treatment.

Our experienced technicians will inspect the affected area, and scrub off large deposits before they pre-treat and agitate with soluble solutions. This is followed by pressure cleaning, extraction of grout, and finished with an application of new grout containing efflorescence blockers.

Call us today for an on-site inspection and free quote. We offer a variety of efflorescence removal and treatment solutions and in some cases, we can prevent it from returning for good.
